Kuah Town is the hub of Pulau Langkawi, as the jetty which connects the mainland of Malaysia to the island is located here. There are many hotels, shops, banks, malls and facilities to be found in this town, but no beaches.
Padang Matsirat is where the Langkawi International Airport is located, along with several tourist attractions such as the Field of Burnt Rice and Underwater World. A small town, there is a similar range of facilities and shops like those you find in Kuah, but nothing too grand a scale. Several hotels line the area and there are some isolated beaches, but they are no where as nice as those found in nearby Pantai Cenang.Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah are the most popular tourist spots in Langkawi, having the best beaches on the island along with a wide range of shops, hotels, restaurants and other entertainment outlets. Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah are located side by side, and together, form a 4 km stretch of beach.
At night, both places become very lively and colourful with the music of live bands playing in the air. From Kuah Town, it is only moderate distance away to reach either destination and from Padang Matsirat, a matter of minutes. Pantai Kok is a beach in the northeast of Langkawi, which is where the Telaga Harbour Park, Oriental Village and several luxury hotels are located. There are some decent amenities and facilities here, including banks, restaurants and a petrol station here, but the overall atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful. The true beauty of this location lies in its natural surroundings of limestone hills and rugged mountains, offering a relaxing nature holiday.
